Things are progressing apace chez Grey. We still have lots of beautiful stuff on hand, so come take a peek as soon as you are able. Our last day in the Boston location will be January 6th. After that, we pull up stakes and head for the middle of The Mitten. This is sooner than we had planned, but John has to get back to professor-ing for the spring semester, so off we go!
There will be a pause in operations while we get established in Michigan, so best to order or stop in before the hiatus begins.
Here are the machines that we currently have in stock with their Final Sale prices (includes all discounts):
Ambition Essential: $600 (MSRP $800) - this is actually an unopened, brand new machine! **SOLD**
Creative 1.5 embroidery: $1200 (MSRP $2000)
Hobbylock 2.0 Serger: $400 (MSRP $550) **SOLD**
So, sweet sewists, you may know that I've been living in Michigan for the past year or so. That's not news. The big-exciting-crazy-pants news is that we're adding to our cadre of Greys! That's right, folks, I'm in a family way and our sweet little sprogget is due in early May.
When I was just eating for one, it was much easier to work the whole owning-a-shop-long-distance thing. Since that changed, I've been contemplating how best to proceed and what I've come up with is to move Grey's base of operations to Michigan.
What this means for you is that we're having a moving sale! Starting on December 14th, everything in the shop is 25% off (not valid on prior sales). If you're in store, we'll take that off automatically. (More on our remaining machines in the next post.) If you're a web customer, just use the code "MOVING25" for your discount. Needless to say, shopping now will provide you with the best selection. If you have a gift certificate, cash that bad boy in now! (If you're out of town for the holidays, drop me an email and we'll get you set up right.) Punch cards can be redeemed in person ($10 for a full card, $1 per punch for ones that aren't full) until we close the Boston location.
The time is right for this move, but we love you, Boston, and we always will.
News flash! The lovely and talented Megan Nielsen has just released mini versions of her patterns for those mini gals in your life: girls sizes of the Briar Top, Virginia Leggings, and Tania Culottes! We think they're just smashing and will go great with a number of knits and wovens in the shop!
The Virginias go great with knits in solids or prints. In the top image, we're featuring Robert Kaufman Laguna Jersey (95% cotton, 5% spandex) in Onyx and Orchid as well as Anna Maria Horner 100% cotton jersey in a print called Family Unit. Below, we've matched the Virginia with 95% cotton, 5% spandex knit prints from Art Gallery Fabrics in Cottagely Posy by Katy Jones and Sun Tracks by Maureen Cracknell.
The Tania Culottes are designed for wovens and these Cotton and Steel fabrics would really do the trick! On top is Zipline in Green, a rayon challis by Sarah Watts and below is Speckled Darkplum in cotton lawn by Rashida Coleman.
Last, but not least is the Briar Top, which we've paired with some cotton/spandex jerseys. On top is Art Gallery Fabrics Wispy Daybreak Aura by Leah Duncan. Bottom left is Robert Kaufman Laguna Jersey in light grey heather and on the right is Mojave Aloe, also by Leah Duncan for Art Gallery.
So that's what's new around these parts! Hope you liked these pairings and I can't wait to see what you whip up!
It's almost turkey (or tofurkey, or whatever you prefer) time again, folks! That means the mad dash to complete your holiday shopping is seriously on. Geez, could you cool it with the pressure already, Black Friday?! Anyhow, to help alleviate some of the stress that comes with this time of the year, we're having some sale-type-things, starting Nov. 27th. (We're closed on Thanksgiving and our winter hours have started: Sun 12-5, closed Mon, Tues-Sat 12-7.)
In store: Fri/Sat/Sun, machines are 25% off MSRP and everything else is 20% off.
If you're a long-distance shopper, use the code "HANDTURKEY" on Friday through Monday for 20% off online!
That weekend only, all machines are a whopping 25% off MSRP. That is the lowest price that any of these bad boys will get for the remainder of the year! It's the same price for new or floor models, though we'll throw in two yards of your favorite fabric to sweeten the deal on any pre-loved beauties. Here are pricing details:

Check out this rad new bag, freshly released from Grainline Studio and Fringe Supply Company! I'm super excited to make a bunch of these guys, in the small and large varieties! We're going to be offering this bag as a class on Saturday December 5th as well. What a great gift for sewists, knitters, and also for people who carry things in bags.
The black doggie on linen fabric is Best Friends (one of my faves, even though it is missing the best dog in the universe - the greyhound!) and the solids below that are Robert Kaufman Montauk Twill in Deep Ocean, Robert Kaufman Cider Corduroy, and FreeSpirit Home Decor Weight Taupe Sateen. The possibilities are endless!
